3 teams that might target Mitchell Starc in IPL 2024

Micthell Starc, one of the modern-era great fast bowlers, has confirmed that he will be putting his name in the IPL 2024 auction list in a bid to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and USA. 

Starc last played in the IPL in 2014 and 2015, for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and picked 34 wickets in 27 games at an economy of 7.17 with the best bowling performance of 4/15. Since then, he has kept himself out of IPL action to devote time and fitness to the international team. 

But this time around, when the IPL 2024 auction will happen on December 19 in Dubai, all franchises will be focusing on Starc as his ability to swing the new ball and bowl yorkers at death is known to all.

Here are 3 teams that could trigger a bidding war for Mitchell Starc:

1. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

The franchise that will want Mitchell Starc back the most would be his old team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB’s woes with the bowling have not ended since the inception of the tournament in 2008. Their bowling has been mainly dependent on Mohammed Siraj in recent times and to some extent Harshal Patel. 

RCB tried the likes of David Willey, Reece Topley, and Wayne Parnell during the powerplay in IPL 2023. But no one proved to be consistent. This will mean RCB going all out for Starc in a bid to partner Siraj at the top and realize their dream of winning the IPL trophy.
