Ishan Kishan is one of the most talented wicketkeeper-batters in Indian cricket at the moment. However, he is struggling to earn a national team recall. The Jharkhand cricketer is currently plying his trade for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after being roped in by the franchise for INR 11.25 crore at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega-auction
Kishan led India to the finals of the Under-19 World Cup in 2016. Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, and Sarfaraz Khan are some of the players who were part of that team. Pant, who is also a wicketkeeper-batter, made his international debut earlier than the rest (2017) on the back of some consistent performances in the IPL as well as for Delhi in domestic cricket. Meanwhile, Kishan had to wait for four more years for his maiden India appearance.
However, the Patna-born produced some memorable performances for India. The highlight has to be his maiden double century in ODI cricket, which he scored against Bangladesh in December 2022. This is still the fastest ODI double century, coming off just 126 balls. Kishan was also a part of India's squad, which reached the finals of the ODI World Cup in 2023. After seeing some of the highs of the sport, Kishan is now going through a tough phase, as he has not represented the Men in Blue since November 2023.
Kishan was left out of the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) annual central contracts list in 2024 after he had skipped domestic matches even after receiving clear instructions from the board. The youngster returned to domestic cricket following the punishment, but he has not been able to add to his 61 international appearances.
Here are three domestic tournaments where Ishan Kishan scored centuries, but it did not facilitate an India comeback:
3. 86-ball century vs Madhya Pradesh in Buchi Babu Tournament 2024
Ahead of the 2024-25 domestic season, Ishan Kishan slammed an 86-ball century against Madhya Pradesh in the Buchi Babu Tournament in Tamil Nadu. He reached three figures with two consecutive sixes in the red-ball fixture on August 16, 2024. The Jharkhand skipper finished on 114. In the second innings, he scored an unbeaten 41 to take his team to a two-wicket win.
