3. MS Dhoni & Kumara Sangakkara's joint record of the most dismissals as wicketkeepers
In the history of cricket, Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and India’s MS Dhoni will go down as the best wicketkeepers. In ODI cricket, both legends hunted more than 900 batters behind the wickets with their wicketkeeping prowess. Talking about their records in the Asia Cup, both jointly hold the record of the most dismissals (36 each) as wicketkeepers.
Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup trophy in 2004 and in this terrific success, Sangakkara not only looked fabulous as a batter but also did tremendously well as a keeper. In the competition, he performed 11 dismissals and held the record of dismissing the most batters as a wicketkeeper in an Asia Cup edition.
In the 2018 installment of the continental tournament, MS Dhoni shattered Sangakkara’s record, hunting 12 batters behind the wickets. Noting the joint record of Dhoni and Sangakkara, it can’t be ruled out that this record might not get touched or broken by any wicketkeepers in the Asia Cup.
