1. Virat Kohli’s individual highest score of 183
In 2012, Virat Kohli was one of the rising batters in ODIs. In February 2012, he played a phenomenal knock of 133 (86) against Sri Lanka in Hobart and grabbed a lot of attention towards himself. With this knock, he showed that he could become India’s match-winner in big games.
Kohli again showcased his mettle against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2012. The game against the Men in Green was a must-win for the Indian team as Bangladesh had done a huge turnaround, beating India in the competition. Following that loss, India needed to win their next match against Pakistan at Shere Bangla Stadium.
Winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat first and set an enormous target of 330 runs on the board. While following the total, India lost Gautam Gambhir in the first over, but Kohli, who was looking confident in the competition, stitched crucial partnerships with Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma to take the team close to the target.
The stylish batter got dismissed on 183 in the 48th over when India required only 12 off 17. The Men in Blue pocketed the game by six wickets and Kohli became the Player of the Match for his unprecedented knock. Kohli’s remarkable innings of 183 is the highest individual score in the history of the tournament and this is also one of the most incredible feat that might not be easier for future generations to shatter.
