1. Rubel Hossain vs New Zealand in 2013, Mirpur
In 2013, Rubel Hossain, by grabbing a hat-trick against New Zealand at home, broke into the list of great names. Facing the Black Caps in the first ODI at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh were looking to kick off the series with a triumph.
In the match, Bangladesh by virtue of a spectacular batting display from captain Rahim (90 runs off 98 deliveries) and Naeem Islam (84 runs off 115 deliveries) posted a competitive total of 265.
Pursuing the target, the Black Caps lost three wickets at a score of 60 in 16.3 overs. The situation got worse for the visitors when the match got curtailed due to rain interruption after 20 overs during New Zealand's innings. With the Duckworth-Lewis method coming into play, McCullum and his troops got the revised target of 206 runs in 33 overs.
Coming out to defend the revised total, Bangladesh looked incredible as Rubel Hossain with his fierce bowling stunned the tourists by taking a hat-trick. By fetching the wickets of Corey Anderson, Brendon McCullum, and James Neesham, Hossain became the third Bangladeshi bowler to claim a hat-trick in ODIs.
He ended his spell with stupendous figures of 6/26 in 5.5 overs. With his stunning bowling performance, the Bangla Tigers defeated the Kiwis by 43 runs (D/L method) in the opening game.
