3. Mahmudullah
Mahmudullah is an integral part of the Bangladesh team due to his ability to play quickfire innings with the bat. With his knack of playing big strokes in the limited-overs format, he also became one of the best finishers for Bangladesh. In the Asia Cup, he has given Bangladesh fans a few moments to cheer by taking his team home in big contests.
Back in the 2012 Asia Cup, Mahmudullah, who was just 26 years old back then, delivered an energetic performance to help his team to cross the line in a must-win game against Sri Lanka. With a stunning triumph over India in the tournament, Bangladesh were looking to enter the final of the Asia Cup for the first time by beating Sri Lanka.
In the game against the Lankan Lions, Bangladesh were struggling to chase a curtailed target of 212 in 40 overs (D/L method), but Mahmudullah with his stable innings of 32* runs off 33 deliveries won the game for his team and also proved his potential as a match-finisher.
In the 2016 installment of the Asia Cup, which was played in the T20 format, Mahmudullah had a huge contribution towards his team’s impressive journey as runners-up. Riding on his rapid knocks of 23* (12) and 22* (15) against Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively in the group stage, Bangladesh pummelled both the Asian giants to advance to the final of the tournament.
