3. 113 runs off 50 balls vs Kings XI Punjab, IPL 2016

Royal Challengers Bangalore took the stage alongside Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) for the 50th match of IPL 2016. Due to a heavy downpour, the match became a 15-overs contest. KXIP won the toss and put Bangalore into bat. Kohli entered the contest with nine stitches on his left hand because of a split webbing.

The Delhi-born and Chris Gayle started proceedings with the bat for RCB and completely demolished Punjab's bowling attack. The opening duo sewed a dazzling 147 runs-stand for the first wicket in just 66 balls. Though Gayle (73 runs off 32 balls) got out, Kohli did not stop and continued hammering the bowlers. Neither KXIP nor the injury was able to contain the Indian batting maestro.

The Indian batter smashed 113 runs off 50 deliveries, which included 12 fours and eight sixes. Riding on magnificent knocks from Gayle and Kohli, RCB posted a massive total of 211 runs in 15 overs.  Punjab in response, could score only 120 runs in 14 overs and lost the game by 82 runs (DLS method).
