2. 82* runs off 51 balls vs Australia, T20 World Cup 2016

India took on Australia in the 31st match of the 2016 T20 World Cup in Mohali. It was a virtual knock-out game with the winner advancing to the semis. Steve Smith & co. batted first and posted a competitive total of 160 runs on the board with Aaron Finch (43 runs off 34 balls) top-scoring for them.

The Men in Blue in response were in a perilous position after losing their third wicket in the eighth over with just 49 runs on the board. India were struggling, stakes were high and Kohli rose to the occasion yet again. The ace batter shepherded the innings beautifully, scoring timely boundaries to ensure that the asking rate was never out of reach.

Then at the fag end of the innings when India required 39 runs in three overs, the Delhi-born just unleashed the explosive side to him and battered the Australian pacers all around the park to win the match for his team with five balls to spare. Kohli’s breathtaking knock of 82* runs off 51 deliveries consisted of nine fours and two maximums.
