During IPL 2012, Sunil Narine attracted a lot of eyes due to his mystery spin bowling. With his charismatic bowling, he troubled renowned batters like Sachin Tendulkar, Adam Gilchrist, and Michale Hussey. However, for Virender Sehwag, it wasn’t a huge challenge as he tackled Narine comfortably while playing his historic 219-run knock in a 2011 match between India and the West Indies.

On May 7, 2012, after Delhi Daredevils’ six-wicket defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he gave a statement saying, “Narine might now work against me, I could have smashed him." However, he also praised Narine’s disciplined bowling in the game against his team.

In the whole edition of the tournament, Sehwag didn’t get a chance to face Narine even as both the Knight Riders and Daredevils clashed with each other thrice. Ahead of the matches, fans were excited to witness the contest between both legendary players but that couldn't happen as both star players didn't get a chance to face each other in the competition.
