3. Have you seen my catch? - 2012 press conference in Australia
During India’s tour of Australia in 2012, MS Dhoni introduced the controversial rotation policy, according to which only two of three senior players (Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Gautam Gambhir) would play a game with a change of combinations throughout the series.
Dhoni supported this policy to provide more chances to youngsters. He also added that three seniors were not swift on the field. In the series, Dhoni faced a one-match ban due to a slow over-rate offence during India vs Australi match at The Gabba, Brisbane.
In Dhoni’s absence, Sehwag was assigned the role of a skipper for the match against Sri Lanka. While fielding against Sri Lanka, he took a stunning grab at mid-wicket to dismiss Mahela Jayawardene on Irfan Pathan’s delivery. After the match, Sehwag was asked about Dhoni’s opinion of the seniors’ slowness on the field. In a reply to the question, he said, “have you seen my catch? MS will come for the next match: you can ask him the question.”
