After India’s emphatic 124-run victory against Pakistan in the fourth match of Champions Trophy 2017, Virender Sehwag posted a congratulatory tweet on his Twitter account writing, “Pote ke baad Bete, koi baat nahi Beta, Well tried! Congratulations Bharat! #BaapBaapHotaHai #IndvPak.” The former Indian legend drew the ire of many Pakistan cricket supporters and former players.

But it was former Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif who retorted to his post after the Men in Blue’s loss against Sri Lanka in the next match. The former Pakistan captain released a 15-minute Facebook video named ‘Special response to Sehwag.’ He started the video with a congratulatory message to Pakistan for their 19-run win over South Africa. Going further, he also disparaged the Indian side and said that had Sehwag targeted him, he would not have cared but Sehwag targeted a country.

Latif also said, ‘Baap akhir baap hota hai, Sehwag comes from Najafgarh, the city that contributed to the country’s independence. He was my grandfather," said Latif. He also went on to say that, "all big monuments left to India by our ancestors, be it Ajmer Sharif, Nizamuddin Sharif or Taj Mahal. I have a bigger family in India than you do." The former Pakistan wicket-keeper batter also said he had no respect for Sehwag as other players such as Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, and Ajay Jadeja.  However, reacting to Latif’s video, Sehwag took to Twitter and posted, “A meaningful silence is always better than meaningless words."
