5 cricketers who represented two countries in T20Is
While changing nationality is a common phenomenon in football, it is not that frequent in cricket but it (cricket) too has witnessed a few instances when a player has played for two different nations.
1. Tim David
It was a long time coming and it finally happened on September 20, 2022, when Tim David made his debut for Australia in T20 internationals. The 26-year-old was born in Singapore and played a significant amount of cricket for them before shifting to Australia with the hope of getting more opportunities.
Known as a powerful striker of the ball, David made his T20I debut for Singapore in the year 2019 and went on to represent them in 14 matches. With a spectacular strike rate of 158.52, the youngster scored 558 runs at an average of 46.50 for Singapore. His stats for Singapore prove the kind of quality he has and why Australia were interested in having him in their squad.
As Australia look to defend the title on their own turf, Tim David has been included in the 15-member squad and is expected to play a massive role in the tournament. Till now, he has just played two T20Is for Australia and scored 20 runs at a strike rate of 117.64. Australia are likely to play him in all the matches in the ongoing India series to build his confidence before the global tournament.
