These are the five best knocks of Bangladesh batters in ODI World Cups.
4. Mahmudullah’s 103 against England (2015 World Cup)
Believing in his batting potential, Mahmudullah has bagged a lot of ODI matches for Bangladesh in his 16-year career. However, one knock which will always live in the minds of Bangladesh supporters will be his fabulous century against the Eoin Morgan-led England in the 2015 World Cup.
At the Adelaide Oval, Morgan emerged victorious at the coin toss and elected to bowl first. In the first three overs of the match, James Anderson looked ferocious with the ball and picked up both Bangla openers Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes. After the loss of two early wickets, the Asian side was in immense trouble but Mahmudullah stood tall and stitched crucial partnerships with Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim.
After fifty overs, Bangladesh amassed a decent total of 275/7, courtesy of a superb 103-run knock from Mahmudullah. The veteran’s plucky knock also emboldened his team’s bowlers as they looked confident and wrapped up England on 260 in 48.3 overs and clinched a historic victory.
