Shakib Al Hasan looked brilliant at the 2019 World Cup and emerged as the highest run-scorer for Bangladesh. After smashing a remarkable ton against England in Cardiff, Shakib continued his form with his bat against the West Indies. At the County Garden, Taunton, the Caribbeans piled up 321/8 in 50 overs with some scintillating batting displays.

To pull off the giant total, Bangladesh required extraordinary performances from their batters. Coming out to chase the target, Bangladesh openers Soumya Sarkar and Tamim Iqbal gave an aggressive start to their team. After the dismissal of both the batters, Shakib Al Hasan took the matter into his hands and hit his second century of the tournament.

Along with Litton Das, Shakib dominated Windies bowlers and built an unbroken 189-run partnership to take his team home by seven wickets in 41.3 overs. At the end of the game, the left-handed batter received the Player of the Match award for his swift 124 runs off just 99 deliveries.
