3. Sunil Gavaskar

 

Sunil Gavaskar is one the greatest opening batters of all time. The legendary cricketer piled on heaps of runs in the longest format of the game. He was the first player to score 10,000 runs in Tests. The veteran batter was also part of the Indian team which won the World Cup in 1983.

Many might be surprised to know that the ‘Little Master’ who was renowned for his glorious strokes and solid defensive technique has also featured in a few films. Gavaskar made his acting debut in a Marathi movie titled, ‘Savli Premachi’ in 1980. 

The prolific run-getter also went on to make his Bollywood debut in the year 1988 with the movie ‘Malaamaal’. He played himself in the movie directed by Kewal Sharma, featuring Naseeruddin Shah. The comedy film also starred Satish Shah, Poonam Dhillon, Mandakini, Aditya Pancholi, and Amjad Khan. 

Gavaskar has also sung a song, which depicted the similarities between a cricket match and real life, “Ya Duniyemadhye Thambayaala Vel Konala” written by Shantaram Nandgaonkar.
