2. Sandeep Patil

Sandeep Patil made his international debut in 1980 and was renowned for his aggressive strokeplay. The swashbuckling cricketer was the pillar of the Indian middle order for a couple of years and was more than handy with his medium pace. The Maharashtra-born was instrumental in India’s title triumph in World Cup in 1983 accumulating 216 runs in eight games.

After the epic World Cup win, the dashing batter was given a chance to star in the movie directed by filmmaker Vijay Singh. He accepted the offer and played the lead role opposite actresses, Poonam Dhillon and Debashree Roy in ‘Kabhie Ajnabi The’. Star actor Shakti Kapoor also featured in this film.

Interestingly, Patil’s teammate Syed Kirmani was one of the antagonists and the legendary Sachin Tendulkar also played a small cameo in the musical romantic drama film. ‘Kabhie Ajnabi The’ hit the theatres in 1985. However, the film which was presumed to be a huge hit was a failure at the box office.
