2. The Nidahas Trophy Saga
Bangladesh were locking horns with Sri Lanka in what was a virtual semi-final of the Nidahas Trophy 2018. The game went right down the wire with the Bangla Tigers needing 12 runs off the final over. On the second delivery of the over, Mustafizur Rahman was run out in what was a second straight short ball. But the on-field umpires deemed it a legal delivery and not a no ball.
Bangladesh’s skipper Shakib Al Hasan protested against the umpire's call and even asked his batters in the middle to leave the ground. It was also seen that some of the Bangladesh players who were benched for the fixture and serving drinks to the players, got engaged in a verbal dispute with the Sri Lankan cricketers.
After the confrontation ended and play resumed, it were the Bangla Tigers who stood tall winning the match by two wickets. However, the players mocked the opposition by imitating the infamous 'Nagin Dance' after winning the game. It portrayed a lack of sportsmanship on the part of Bangladesh players.
