5 Instances when dropped catches were claimed by a fielder

Amy Jones was the culprit this time, as England women played India in a T20I tri-series match at the Manuka Oval in Canberra in 2020.

India were asked to chase down 148 runs to win the match and in the second over of the Women in Blue’s chase, Katherine Brunt got Smriti Mandhana to edge one to keeper Amy Jones. Jones had to move to her left to complete a seemingly regulation catch.

Mandhana began walking to the pavilion when TV replays clearly showed that Jones had not secured the ball properly, and it popped out of her gloves. But she kept the information to herself and instead celebrated with her teammates.

However, the TV umpire intervened and relayed the correct information to the on-field umpires, who then asked Mandhana to come back and continue her innings. Later on, reacting to severe backlash on social media, Jones apologised for her actions.
