When you search for infamous dropped catches being claimed on YouTube, the first video is of Pakistan’s Ahmed Shehzad.

This incident happened during an ODI match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Dubai in 2015. Yasir Shah was bowling to Lahiru Thirimanne, and the Sri Lankan batter swept the leggie towards mid-wicket.

Shehzad, patrolling the boundary, ran in and took a difficult catch near the ground and came up with the ball tucked near his chin. Before referring the catch to the third umpire, the on-field officials gave the soft signal of Not Out.

The replays showed the reality of Shehzad’s claim as though he had caught the ball initially, it popped out of his hand as they hit the ground and the ball even rolled some distance, before Shehzad picked it and claimed the catch.
