4. The walkout threat, 2018
During the Nidahas Trophy 2018 Bangladesh and Sri Lanka clashed in the sixth game and it saw a major controversy between both teams. Chasing 160, Bangladesh needed 12 runs in the final over. On the very first ball, Sri Lanka pacer Isuru Udana delivered a bouncer, which ended as a dot. The next delivery was also short and Mustafizur Rahman got run out in an attempt to scamper through for a quick single.
The delivery on which Mustafizur was dismissed was deemed legal and not a no ball for height. It forced captain Shakib to turn up to the boundary rope along with other players to question the umpire’s decision. He wanted to call both the batters off the field to protest against the decision and forfeit the match.
One of the substitutes, Nurul Hasan entered the field and was involved in a heated discussion with Thisara Perera. In the end, batter Mahmudullah hit a winning six to seal a place in the finals of the tournament, and Bangladesh celebrated the victory with their infamous naagin dance. Furthermore, the dressing room was also damaged by Bangladesh players.
