1. Bangladesh vs Australia, 1st Test, Mirpur, 2017
In 2017, the Bangladesh cricket team gave one of the happiest moments to their fans by defeating Australia in the longest format of the game in their own backyard. Playing at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 260 in the first innings with superb efforts from Tamim Iqbal (71 runs) and Shakib Al Hasan (84 runs).
With just 260 runs on the board, the Bangladesh bowlers consolidated and delivered a solid performance by winding up the Australian innings for just 217.
With a 43-run lead, Bangladesh were in a commanding position. In the second innings, Tamim Iqbal again dazzled with the bat by hitting 78 runs. While Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, and Mehidy Hasan also chipped in by scoring 41, 22, and 26 respectively. At the end of their batting innings, the Bangla Tigers ended up scoring 221 runs.
Pursuing the chase of 265 runs, the Australian batting line-up faltered and could only reach 244 in front of Bangladesh's lethal spin bowling attack. Except David Warner who scored 112 runs, no other Aussie batter was able to show positive intent on the turning wicket.
Shakib showed his brilliance by clinching a five-wicket haul. On the other hand, Mehidy Hasan also contributed well by picking up two wickets. While Taijul Islam also claimed three Aussie batters with his orthodox left-arm off-spin bowling. With a sensational 20-run victory over Australia, Bangladesh stunned the cricketing world again.
