In the Super Four game of the Asia Cup 2023, Team India locked horns with Pakistan in a battle for supremacy. Interestingly this game was played across two days, as on the scheduled day, incessant rains played possums only to lead the game to the allotted 'reserve day'. On day 1, after winning the toss, surprisingly, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam invited the Indian team to bat first under overcast conditions. However, his decision backfired the bowlers failed to capitalise on the conditions. As a result, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill made merry of the opportunity by stitching an explosive 121-run stand for the first wicket.

Thereafter, post an early vigil and some risk-free cricket, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul carried the bat after rain washed out the day. At that stage, India were 147/2, in 24.1 overs. Going into the reserve day, after an early vigil, the Kohli-Rahul duo blasted the Pakistan bowling and ended up scoring centuries along with a record stand of 233 runs for the third wicket which meant that India were in the box seat as they finished with a monumental 356/2.

In reply, Pakistan's run chase got derailed totally as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and succumbed to the immense pressure eventually. After captain Babar Azam failed to get going courtesy of Hardik Pandya's bowling brilliance, Kuldeep Yadav came to the party and took a memorable second five-wicket haul to lead India to a gigantic 228-run victory over Pakistan.
