3. India vs Pakistan: A Bat and Ball War
Pakistan toured India for a historic series in 1999, for a Test series, the first time since 1987. This was in the backdrop of the Kargil War the same year. The two teams played two Tests. The series was drawn 1–1. The teams were originally scheduled to play three Tests but, the third Test became part of the 1998–99 Asian Test Championship.
From pitch vandalism to snakes, the Pakistan team had all sorts of security threats thrown at them. This docu-series goes behind the scenes of the thrilling series which was played in Chennai and Delhi. It shows the standing ovation Pakistan got in Chennai and the dismay of Men in Green after Anil Kumble took a record 10 wickets in the Delhi Test to level the series 1-1.
The documentary is made by a foreign film crew who navigated the tangle of red tape to gain access to the visitors' dressing room and private parties. Unlike prior tours, this series was not uninteresting, and neither is this documentary.
