Marcus Stoinis was one of the most important and effective players for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 2024 season. He proved the reputation he holds especially in T20 cricket in the game against CSK in the 2024 edition. This game was played in Chennai and CSK had put up a big total on the board. Just as the game was looking like going CSK’s way Stoinis played a match-winning innings of 124 off just 63 deliveries to win the game for his side with just three balls to spare. This also made him one of the oldest centurions for LSG scoring that century at the age of 34.

The Australian all-rounder was not retained by the Lucknow-based franchise ahead of the 2025 season and was bought by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR 11 crore at the auction. This is also the first franchise Stoinis played for in the IPL back in 2016, and he will want to make the most of this re-union with the team going into the tournament.
