3. Andre Russell
Andre Russell is serving Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) since 2014 in the IPL. The swashbuckling Caribbean all-rounder has delivered many match-winning performances for the Kolkata-based franchise. With the bat, the ace player has scored 2070 in 99 games at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 177.99.
Talking about his bowling numbers, the talented West Indies player has picked up 89 wickets in 99 matches at an economy of 9.14. After receiving top-notch services from him for years, KKR could’ve found a reliable leader in Russell after parting ways with Eoin Morgan after the 2021 season.
However, instead of appointing Russell, the franchise signed Shreyas Iyer to get his services as skipper and batter. Just a few days before the 2023 edition of the league, Shreyas Iyer was expected to miss at least half of the season due to a back injury. This time, Russell’s name came out as one of the contenders to lead the team, but in the end, Knight Riders opted for Nitish Rana in their regular captain’s absence.
