It can be challenging to find a spot for an all-round player like Washington Sundar with players like Ashwin, Jadeja, and Axar being in top form. Although he is an excellent fielder and a good off-spinner with very useful batting potential, his place in the World Cup is still in doubt.
For India, Sundar is one of those players who will be fighting for a spot in the squad but might remain unfortunate. The all-rounder from Tamil Nadu, who made his international debut at the age of 18, put on shows whenever given the chance. Sundar has consistently served as a reminder of his ability, whether it is with a bat or a ball, regardless of the format.
There are a plethora of all-rounders in the Indian unit. The team will include Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. Axar Patel has also contributed sufficiently to earn a spot on the team. The selectors may consider Ashwin if he has a successful IPL given his track record in India. Thus it will not come as a surprise if Washington is left out of the squad.
