4. Aparna Mondal
Bengal player Aparna Mondal got fetched at her base price of INR 10 lakh in the 2023 WPL auction, by Delhi Capitals who seem to have acknowledged her batting abilities. The 27-year-old player is a reliable top-order batter for Bengal in the domestic circuit.
However, her franchise may pass her for their 11-member squad, as she hasn’t been up to the mark in her recent appearances. In her last eight matches, she failed to deliver an impressive knock with the bat.
In 2022, she represented India D Women in the 2022-23 Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy. The tournament was a perfect platform for Mondal to retain her form but she failed to make a mark. She was included in the playing XI against India A but failed to take advantage of the opportunity and scored just 13 runs.
Coming into the WPL without the backing of numbers, DC may find a more reliable alternative in Taniya Bhatia who, for a long time, was the first-choice wicket-keeper batter even for team India.
