In the 2018 Asia Cup, Dinesh Karthik was a part of the Indian team as a middle-order batter. He played six games in which he scored 146 runs in five innings at an average of 48.66. Karthik did his job excellently in the competition and helped India lift the trophy for the record seventh time.

Karthik was also an essential member of India’s World Cup 2019 side. After playing the semi-final game against New Zealand, he never featured in India’s ODI team again. The veteran also didn’t get a chance to play any international match for the Men in Blue after his dismal performance in the T20 World Cup in 2022.

This year, Karthik hasn’t got a spot in India’s Asia Cup 2023 side either as the team management has trusted Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul to keep wickets. While in the middle order, India have a lot of batters who could play match-winning knocks in the marquee event coming ahead.
