5 records of Virender Sehwag that might never be broken
There are some mind-boggling records created by Virender Sehwag that might never be broken.
1. Most first-ball boundaries in ODIs
Sehwag was known for taking the attack to the opposition right from the get-go and putting bowling line-ups under the pump. On many occasions, one saw the former Indian batter kickstart the Indian innings with a boundary.
In his ODI career, Sehwag faced the first delivery of the innings on 124 occasions and he sent 20 of those balls to the fence, which is the highest by a batter in the 50-over format. Many destructive openers such as Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum, and Shane Watson opened the innings but were not able to breach Sehwag's record tally.
Rohit and David Warner are two of the best opening batters in world cricket at the moment but the duo also has not come close to Sehwag’s unique feat. Batters are hesitant towards sending the first ball of the innings to the boundary. They take a couple of deliveries to get used to the pace of the pitch and then explode. Therefore, fans might not witness the record being broken in the coming years.
