3. Afghanistan - 6.5/10
Despite all three losses in the super four, the Afghanistan team looked in good shape. Toss definitely played a part in their result but be it batting or bowling, Afghans have the potential to cause some damage in the T20 World Cup.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan are known to trouble the opposition but it was Rahmanullah Gurbaz who stole the show this time. The young opener smashed 152 runs in the five matches that he played and made his presence felt in the majority of the matches. Batting at three, Ibrahim Zadran was the soul of the team. He scored 196 runs in the five matches. On the other hand, Mujeeb picked seven wickets in the tournament while Rashid Khan and Fazalhaq Farooqi picked six each.
Despite good performances from the majority of their players, captain Mohammad Nabi can’t afford to rest well. His own performance is under the scanner and he’ll also have to think about finishing the games. The Afghanistan team are coming close but isn't winning games. In short, they are unable to capitalise in the crunch moments. Before the mega tournament, the captain as well as the management staff needs to address this.
