4. India - 7/10
After two wins on trot, Team India were cruising for gold. Being one of the favourites to lift the title, their entire campaign was demotivated by unfortunate events. Ravindra Jadeja’s injury can surely be one thing but losing all the tosses in the super four is what Rohit Sharma was talking about after the Asia Cup.
Jadeja’s injury was definitely a turning point of their campaign as it caused a lot of instability in the middle order. Rishabh Pant was once again introduced in the middle order but he failed to live up to his potential again. On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s bowling in the death overs has been a big reason to worry but with Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel declared fit, the team can breathe some fresh air at the moment.
Batting and spin bowling are still two areas that the team management needs to address. After a glorifying start to the tournament, Suryakumar Yadav looked pale in majority of the matches while KL Rahul’s strike-rate has been a concern. Rohit Sharma has been inconsistent on the other hand. The big positive thing for India is Virat Kohli’s form. With his 71st hundred now, the former India captain has shown his class all over again. Coming to the spin department, Yuzvendra Chahal had a disappointing campaign while Ravi Bishnoi lacked opportunities.
