While Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah played the supporting roles against India, the star of Pakistan was Shaheen Afridi. Afridi had started waywardly, bowling full in hopes of swing.

However, after a rain break, he returned with a changed strategy and immediately bowled India captain Rohit Sharma. After playing a perfect drive for four off Naseem, Afridi got the big fish Virat Kohli chopping onto his own stumps.

In his second spell, Shaheen Afridi accounted for Hardik Pandya, who top-scored with 87 runs and completed his spell with the wicket of dangerous Ravindra Jadeja, ending India’s hopes of scoring nearly 300 runs. No Player of the Match was given as the match was rained off, but Shaheen’s 4/35 have been etched in Asia Cup laurels.
