2. Faf du Plessis
In the last year’s mega-auction, the franchise roped in Faf du Plessis, who was a Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stalwart in the league from 2012 to 2021. Relying on his sensational batting figures for CSK, RCB invested INR seven crores in him to receive his services as a skipper and batter.
With the bat, he scored 468 runs in 16 games at a strike rate of 127.52. The former South Africa skipper kicked off the season with a spectacular 88 runs off 57 deliveries against Punjab Kings. Later, he also smashed two more impactful half-centuries against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) respectively, which helped RCB to emerge victorious in both contests.
Talking about his performance as a captain, du Plessis looked impressive with his leadership skills as he took the team to the playoffs. Overall with nine victories and seven losses, the franchise ended its campaign, becoming the third most successful team of the season, under its new captain. In the upcoming 2022 edition, the dashing batter and skipper will strive to lift the esteemed IPL trophy.
