Best retired XI from 21st century
In the glorious history of cricket, there have been many champion players who have taken the stage and left the world in awe of them.
8. Wasim Akram
Pakistan has produced many match-winners but there has been hardly any of the caliber of Wasim Akram. Touted as the best left-arm seamer of all time, he moved the ball both ways and dismantled batting line-ups for fun.
Akram featured in 104 Tests and picked up 414 wickets at an average of 23.62. In the ODIs, the former Pakistan cricketer is the only pacer to have breached the tally of 500 wickets and has 502 scalps to his name in 356 matches at an economy of 3.89.
Besides his bowling might, Akram provided crucial contributions with the bat and has three international centuries to his name. The ‘Sultan of Swing’ hung his boots from international cricket in May 2003, calling time on an 18-year illustrious career.
