New Zealand triumphed against hosts and Bangladesh suffered a tight loss

New Zealand have positively started their campaign getting a win over home favourites Pakistan in the opening encounter. The Blackcaps easily defended a 300+ total against the Green Shirts to get their first points on the table. They will want to repeat the same against the Bangla Tigers who suffered a tight loss against India while defending a modest total of 228.

An unpredictable matchup awaiting

Though on paper it looks like New Zealand are the favourite, the Bangladesh team cannot be taken lightly and has a history of winning against big teams. New Zealand are also known to crumble under pressure as well overall this could be a matchup that can surprise the fans in the end.

Here are the top three player battles to watch out for in Bangladesh vs New Zealand, Match 6 of Champions Trophy 2025:

3. Mushfiqur Rahim vs Mitchell Santner

Mushfiqur Rahim might not be in the best of form as of now but is still one of the most dependable batters for Bangladesh in the middle order and is a great player of spin. He will be set to have a great battle against New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner who is known to keep things tight with his variations and accuracy. This is the matchup that could surprise the people.

It has been an interesting battle between these two where though Rahim averages 46 against the left-arm spinner, Santner has dismissed him once and has kept him quiet. This also explains the low strike rate of 64.8 against Santner as well.
