The ninth edition of the Champions Trophy 2025 is set to be hosted in a hybrid model. Pakistan and UAE will host the matches in the global tournament. Eight teams - India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and South Africa will be battling it out in the hope of winning the coveted silverware.
The eight teams have been divided into two groups. Each group will have four teams. Bangladesh have been placed in Group A alongside India, New Zealand, and Pakistan. The Bangla Tigers begin their campaign on February 20 against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh will go on to face New Zealand on February 24 and Pakistan on February 27. The top two teams from this group will make it to the semi-finals.
Bangladesh's best result in the Champions Trophy came in the previous edition in 2017. They lost in the semi-finals against India by nine wickets. Bangladesh haven't had a great time in the ODI format of late. They have lost ODI series to Afghanistan and the West Indies in the last couple of months. Najmul Hossain Shanto's men will look to turn their fortunes around in the eight-team competition.

Here's Bangladesh's Predicted squad for the Champions Trophy 2025:
Top-order: Najmul Hossain Shanto (C), Tamim Iqbal, Tanzid Hasan:
Najmul Hossain Shanto is set to return as the leader of the side after missing the West Indies tour due to an injury. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selectors have dropped the ball in Tamim Iqbal's court as they have asked if whether he is willing to return to the national team. The experienced opener hasn't played for Bangladesh since September 2023. If Tamim gives the green signal, he could open the innings with the young and talented Tanzid Hasan.
Middle order - Litton Das, Mahmudullah, Jaker Ali:
Litton Das has not been in great form of late. He scored just six runs from three innings against the Windies. However, he has the ability to turn things around on the big stage. Meanwhile, Mahmudullah will play an important role in the middle-order. The veteran has amassed 1,615 runs in the last four years in ODIs from 45 innings at an average of 47.50. He will look to continue his purple patch in the mega event. Jaker Ali has looked impressive in recent times. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 113 runs from three innings against the West Indies at an average of 56.50. In the five ODIs he has played so far, the 26-year-old has a strike rate of 111.85.
All-rounders: Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mahedi Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan has retired from T20Is and effectively from Tests as well. There are question marks over his availability in the Champions Trophy after he failed to clear a test for suspect bowling action in Loughborough University in England last month. He has undergone another test in Chennai and the BCB selectors are waiting for its results. Meanwhile, Mehidy Hasan Miraz has become one of Bangladesh's most reliable cricketers in recent times. He has improved his batting and bowling considerably and did a good job as a captain in the Caribbean. Mahedi Hasan has not played an ODI since November 2023. However, he has fared brilliantly in recent times in the T20 format and can be a useful option in the sub-continental conditions.
Bowlers - Rishad Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana, Taskin Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib
Taskin Ahmed is going to spearhead the Bangladesh bowling attack. The right-arm seamer took seven wickets from three T20Is and 11 wickets from two Tests against the Windies. He did not play the ODI leg of the tour. Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain and left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed have shown signs of promise. They might not play together but whoever gets the chance should look to make the most of it. Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana have shown remarkable potential. While Mahmud can swing the new ball prodigiously, Rana can hurry the best of the batters in world cricket with his pace. Meanwhile, young Tanzim Hasan Sakib could be the backup pacer in the squad.
Bangladesh's probable squad for Champions Trophy 2025:
Tanzid Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Litton Das (WK), Najmul Hossain Shanto (C), Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed, Jaker Ali (WK), Nahid Rana, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Nasum Ahmed.
