New Zealand had a mixed year when it comes to ODIs in 2024. In their last two series, they lost to Sri Lanka by a 0-2 margin in a three-match series away from home. They are now hosting the same team in and are leading 2-0 with one match to go. The Kiwis have lost some big guns in the form of Tim Southee and Trent Boult, who has not signed the central contract with the board.

But the team is embossed with great all-rounding options and have some big hitters, who, on their day, can turn the game upside down. The team will be led by the veteran Mitchell Santner and Kane Williamson will be back for the tri-series against Pakistan and South Africa before entering the Champions Trophy 2025 arena.

Here's New Zealand's Predicted squad for Champions Trophy 2025:

Top-order: Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, Will Young, Kane Williamson

Will Young has been the team's go-to opener and has done well providing an early start. On the other hand, Rachin Ravindra is ably known to provided a secure start buildiing partnerships with the middle order batters. Mitchell Hay’s prowess is not tested properly in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka. He is just four ODIs old and the team has shown faith in him, as he could be another wicketkeeping option. Tom Latham led the team in World Cup 2023 in the absence of Williamson and the team managed to reach the semi-finals despite several hiccups. He is known to rotate the strike and build partnersips when catastrophe occurs.

He knows how to adapt as per conditions and is a perfect floater for the team in the ODI format. He also provides a bowling option with his medium pace.

Off-spinning all-rounder Michael Bracewell has the experience of leading the team against Pakistan in the T20I series. With him having been tested on the Pakistan soil, he might as well begin popping up on the playing XI roster come the tournament.

Mitchell Santner has an experience of leading the team in patches. With full time opportunity, the spinner has shown his skills on turning track like India and he can marshal his troops with agile on similar conditions in Pakistan.
