The ninth edition of the Champions Trophy came to an end on Sunday, March 9, as India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in a thrilling final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh were placed in Group A. Meanwhile, Group B comprised Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan. India and New Zealand reached the semi-finals from Group A. In the other group, South Africa and Australia progressed to the knockouts.
The Men in Blue defeated Australia by four wickets to reach the final. Meanwhile, the Blackcaps registered a 50-run win against the Proteas to make it to the summit clash. India chased down a 252-run target with an over to spare in the Champions Trophy final. During the tournament, cricket enthusiasts witnessed some awe-inspiring performances.

Openers - Rachin Ravindra, Rohit Sharma (C)

Rachin Ravindra finished as the highest run-getter in the tournament. He amassed 263 runs from four innings at an average of 48.60 and a strike rate of 106.48. Rachin slammed two centuries in the tournament. The first of them came in the group-stage clash against Bangladesh. He scored his second ton in the eight-team event against South Africa in the semi-final. Rachin also picked up three wickets.
Rohit Sharma got India off to some quick starts every time, but a big score eluded him. This, however, changed in the final, where the Indian captain led by example. He smashed an enterprising 76 off 83 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes to make the work considerably easier for the batters to follow. Rohit contributed 180 runs from five innings at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 100.
