8. KL Rahul- 7.5/10
The Indian team has trusted KL Rahul to keep the wickets in this World Cup. After recovering from a hamstring injury, Rahul has exuded confidence with the bat. In Asia Cup 2023, he notched up a brilliant hundred against Pakistan at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
In the absence of Rishabh Pant, Rahul has the potential to fill the shoes of the wicketkeeper efficiently. Records also say that the 31-year-old is the best as a stumper in Pant’s unavailability. Showing up in 23 innings as a wicketkeeper, Rahul has dismissed 34 batters (30 catches and four stumpings).
As a senior player in the Indian team, Rahul will look to justify his role in the team in the World Cup 2023, not just as a batter but as a keeper as well. In India’s first World Cup 2023 game against Australia in Chennai, Rahul produced a match-winning knock of 97 from his bat and received a lot of appreciation. Along with his batting innings, Rahul also got applauded for his superb wicketkeeping.
