The Indian Premier League will return with its 17th edition on March 22, 2024, with a clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The Yellow Army will look to begin their title defense with a victory. In the previous season, Chennai beat Gujarat Titans (GT) in the intriguing final contest at the Narendra Modi Stadium and won their fifth title.
Super Kings are the joint-leading title winners with five trophies in the cabinet and are the only side to play 10 tournament finals. Back in 2008, when the league was launched, CSK reserved MS Dhoni’s services for a hefty sum of INR 9.5 crore. With this amount, he ended up as the costliest player at the inaugural auction held in Mumbai.
In the opening IPL edition, CSK concluded their journey as runners-up, losing to Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the DY Patil Stadium. Similarly, in 2009, Chennai qualified for the knockouts but couldn’t clinch the trophy again after their six-wicket defeat to RCB in the semi-final played in Johannesburg. In 2010, CSK doused their thirst for the trophy with a 22-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the final. After 14 years of the famous win, let’s know where the 2010 IPL champions are currently.
Let's take a look at the CSK 2010 IPL champions and where they are now:

17. Thilan Thushara
Sri Lanka left-arm pacer Thilan Thushara played four matches for CSK and took five wickets at a fine economy of 6.96. Thushara played his last international game in November 2010 but he was active in competitive cricket until October 2021.

Appearing in seven matches, he took only seven wickets at an economy of 8.87. Balaji retired from international cricket in 2016. In 2018, he returned to the CSK camp, taking up the role of bowling coach. He served the team in the new role until 2021.
7. Albie Morkel
South Africa all-rounder Albie Morkel made an enormous contribution to CSK’s scintillating trophy triumph, with his extraordinary all-round prowess. 6. Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin looked excellent with the ball, chipping in with 13 wickets in 12 matches at an economy of 6.10. Ashwin currently leads Team India’s spin attack in Test cricket. Recently, he completed 500 wickets in red-ball cricket. The veteran is the second-most successful bowler for India in the longest format of the sport
5. Matthew Hayden
Former Australia opener Matthew Hayden served the team as an opener and he did his job efficiently. Against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium (then Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium), he recorded his best IPL score of 93 off 43 deliveries and guided his side to a five-wicket win.
Hayden retired from all forms of cricket in September 2012. Currently, the Aussie legend does commentary and provides cricketing insights as an expert. In the 2021 and 2022 editions of the T20 World Cup, Hayden gave his services to the Pakistan cricket team, as a mentor and batting consultant.

Muralitharan ended his illustrious cricketing career as a player in 2014, after playing for RCB in the 2014 IPL instalment. The Sri Lanka stalwart also joined the Australia team as a bowling consultant. In 2015, he also joined Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as the bowling coach and mentor.
1. MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni’s leadership talent played a vital role in CSK’s scintillating triumph. In the league round, when Chennai were playing a do-or-die contest against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamsala, Dhoni produced a match-finishing knock of an unbeaten 54 off just 29 and helped his team chase down a huge target of 193. His spunky knock included five fours and two maximums.
