Famous Indian cricketers who never won Ranji Trophy

The coveted Ranji Trophy is India's premier domestic red-ball competition. Many renowned cricketers did well for the national team, but never won the Ranji Trophy.

The first edition of the Ranji Trophy was played in the 1934-35 season under the name- "Cricket Championship of India," before it was named the following year. Over the years, the tournament has produced some sensational cricketing talents who have gone on to achieve memorable feats in the international arena.

3. VVS Laxman

VVS Laxman made a name for himself in the Test arena by playing some memorable knocks against Australia, including the famous 281, at the iconic Eden Gardens. He finished with a tally of 8,781 and 2,338 runs from 134 Tests and 86 ODIs, respectively. Laxman played 53 Ranji Trophy games for Hyderabad. However, he could not guide his state team to the title.
