2. ICC bans Sunny Dhillon over attempting to fix matches
Former assistant coach in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, Sunny Dhillon was handed a six-year ban from all forms of cricket by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The ban goes back to September 13, 2023, following a ruling by the Anti-Corruption Tribunal, which found him guilty of attempting to fix matches during the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League.
The charges were based on breaches of the Emirates Cricket Board’s (ECB) Anti-Corruption Code, specifically under Article 2.1.1, which prohibits attempts to fix or influence matches. Dhillon was among eight individuals charged for their involvement in corruption during the tournament. The ICC, acting as the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO) for the ECB, disrupted the alleged attempts. After a hearing and examination of evidence, the Tribunal declared Dhillon guilty of attempting to manipulate match outcomes.
