The defending champions England came into the World Cup 2023 with lots of positive vibes and Ben Stokes, who had unretired from ODIs. However, their defence went from bad to worse as they kept losing matches at an alarming rate. They, for the first time ODIs, lost to Afghanistan as well. Their only wins in the league stage came against Bangladesh, Netherlands, and Pakistan. <o:p></o:p>
Given that they won 3 matches in the league stage, England won $120,000 for those wins and with the $100,000 for the group stage money, their total sum came up to $220,000.

Afghanistan had an impressive outing in the CWC 2023 as they won 4 matches. Moreover,&nbsp; at one point in time, were in contention for the semi-finals as well. They defeated three former World Cup winners in Sri Lanka, England, and Pakistan and almost got the better of Australia as well.
Their prize money came to a total of $260,000. $160,000 came from the four wins in the league stage and $100,000 was the group stage money.

Pakistan had a strong start to their World Cup campaign, winning their first two matches. But then the wheels fell off their tourney as they lost four straight matches to India, Afghanistan, Australia, and South Africa. They tried to mount a comeback but failed to qualify for the semis.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>
In the end, they finished with 4 wins out of 9 matches, earning $160,000 for those victories and adding $100,000 group stage money, Pakistan earned a total of $260,000.

It was heartbreak for New Zealand once more as they were dominated in the semi-final by India with a huge 70-run win as the Men in Blue had put up a mammoth 397 runs on the board. In the league stage, the Kiwis began by winning the first four matches effortlessly. But then they lost their next four and had to win the final league match to qualify for the semis.<o:p></o:p>
This meant that apart from the $900,000 prize money for reaching the semi-finals, New Zealand also got $200,000 for the 5 wins in the league stage, with their total coming out to $1 million.<o:p></o:p>

South Africa won 7 matches in the league stage out of nine. They only lost to India and surprisingly Netherlands, who seem to have a number on them. However, a familiar story continued for Proteas as they couldn’t cross the knockout barrier into the final. South Africa lost to Australia in the semis despite having a huge fight.<o:p></o:p>
As a result, South Africa got $280,000 for their seven wins in the league stage and $800,000 for reaching the semis. A total prize money of $1.08 million was earned by South Africa. &nbsp;<o:p></o:p>
