1. Shubman Gill in place of KL Rahul
"It's pretty simple, anybody who gets an opportunity, will have to try and make an impact on the game. That is a simple message that we keep talking about and it is always nice to have these types of players waiting to play the game. It was unfortunate that Shubman missed this game, Sarfaraz got the opportunity and he scored a big hundred. It's a good sign for the team," Rohit said in the post-match Press conference.

Sarfaraz Khan scored a brilliant 150 runs in the second innings as India aimed to surpass a hefty deficit of 356 runs. He built crucial partnerships with Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant as India managed to surpass the Kiwi lead albeit with just 107 runs. He batted brilliantly against the pacers and swept the spinners immaculately. Looking at his form, KL Rahul might have to make way for Gill who might have recovered from a stiff neck contracted ahead of the first Test.
Rahul got out for a duck and scored 12 runs in the first Test. The batter has not had a proper game time since the conclusion of World Cup 2023. He batted for India in South Africa during the Test series and scored a brilliant century. He then got injured and only came back for the Bangladesh series. Going by Rohit’s statement India might field Gill in the XI to bet on his coming among the runs in the middle order.
