3. Gautam Gambhir

Nowadays, Gautam Gambhir hits headlines frequently due to his bold statements. During his playing days too, he was known for his courageous batting attitude. In India’s success in the 2011 World Cup, Gambhir was a pivotal player due to his incredible contribution.

The southpaw accumulated 393 runs with four half-centuries in nine contests and became the second-leading run-scorer for India in the tournament. In the final game against Sri Lanka, he snatched the victory from the jaws of defeat with his match-winning knock of 97 runs off 122 deliveries. In December 2018, Gambhir took retirement from all forms of cricket after not getting any international games post-November 2016.

At the age of 37, the left-handed batter ended international his career with 10,324 runs in 242 matches. Nowadays, he is a Member of Parliament from East Delhi constituency after defeating Atishi Marlena in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Apart from politics, he is a cricket commentator and analyst too. In the Indian Premier League, the 41-year-old is a mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and rumours are around about him leaving the role after Andy Flower departed from the IPL franchise. As of now, he is involved in the commentary panel for Asia Cup 2023.
