IPL: 10 most memorable moments in history
These stunning incidents are etched in the hearts and minds of ardent IPL supporters.
2. Anil Kumble’s 5/5 vs Rajasthan Royals (2009)
After delivering a below-par display in the maiden IPL season, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) trusted Anil Kumble to lead the ship. Captaining the Challengers for the first time in the second installment of the league, the veteran led from the front and grabbed a sensational victory against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Winning the toss against his counterpart Shane Warne, Kumble elected to bat first. On the bowling-friendly surface, RCB batters amassed 133/8 on the board, with the major efforts of Rahul Dravid (66 runs off 48 deliveries) and Kevin Pietersen (32 runs off 30 deliveries).
Taking advantage of the bowling surface, the RCB skipper showed his spunky side and destroyed Rajastan's batting unit. Fetching 5/5 figures with the ball in 3.1 overs, he helped his colleagues to fold the RR batting innings on 58 and take the match home by a comfortable margin of 75 runs.
