IPL 2023: Three bowlers who got big bids in mini-auction
These bowlers were in demand among the franchises and got good money in the auction.
2. Mukesh Kumar
In this auction, Delhi Capitals roped in Bengal cricketer Mukesh Kumar, who has more than seven years of experience in domestic cricket. The franchise got involved in a bidding battle with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) too to get him for the next edition.
At the event, his base price was INR 20 lakh but considering his experience and recent bowling figures, all three franchises showed interest in him. In a couple of tournaments this year, the 29-year-old looked attacking with the ball. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy 2022-23, he picked up six wickets in six games at an economy of 7.04.
He continued his form in Vijay Hazare Trophy too as he clinched nine scalps in six matches at an economy of 4.91. His numbers in recent competitions enticed the Capitals and they signed him at INR 5.5 crore. In the forthcoming tournament, he might get a chance to play alongside Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, and Kuldeep Yadav to strengthen the DC bowling attack.
