IPL 2023: 3 changes MI need to do to get back to winning ways
For their next clash against Delhi Capitals, MI might exclude a few non-performing faces from their playing XI.
2. Dewald Brevis in for Cameron Green
Ahead of the IPL auction, all eyes were on Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who became the second-most expensive player in the history of the league. Considering his all-round potential, MI included him in their 2023 IPL squad for INR 17.50 crore, but, he hasn’t been able to justify his sum so far in the tournament.
Scoring just 17 runs in two matches at a poor strike rate of 113.33, he has been a failure with the bat. Talking about his bowling display, the 23-year-old has picked up only one wicket at an extremely high economy of 10.00. Witnessing his underperformance, MI could trust Dewald Brevis, who has the ability to reinforce MI’s batting line-up with his spunky batting attitude.
The 19-year-old Brevis has proven his mettle in Under-19 cricket and South Africa’s domestic circuit. The youngster has been a part of the MI squad since the last year and played a few decent knocks in the 2022 edition of the IPL.
