IPL 2023: 3 players from Durban Super Giants that LSG might target at auction
IPL 2023 auction is slated to be held on December 23 in Kochi.
1. Jason Holder
Jason Holder is one of the top-drawer all-rounders going around in world cricket at the moment. The 31-year-old has featured in 200 matches in the shortest format and picked up 197 wickets at an economy of 7.86. On the batting front, he has scored 1758 runs at a strike rate of 126.38. In the international circuit, the West Indies all-rounder has bagged 51 wickets in 49 T20Is and smashed 385 runs at a strike rate of 120.98.
Lucknow Super Giants went hammer and tongs to sign Holder at the 2022 mega auction and eventually grabbed him for 8.75 CR. However, the ace all-rounder was not able to perform as per his lofty standards. He took 14 wickets in 12 matches at an economy of 9.42 and scored 58 runs at a strike rate of 131.82.
The team management was not inclined towards paying a hefty amount for Holder for the 2023 season and hence decided to move past him. Having released the Barbados-born, LSG will go hunting for multi-faceted cricketers at the marquee event.
The Lucknow franchise could look to sign the likes of Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, and Cameron Green to play the all-rounder role. However, if LSG fails to grab either of the trio, they could ponder over re-signing Holder. The Caribbean cricketer is a match-winner with both bat and ball and Rahul & co. might try to pick him at an affordable price.
