IPL 2023: 3 Players Sunrisers Hyderabad might pick at auction
Sunrisers Hyderabad released 12 of their players ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.
2. Sam Curran
Sunrisers Hyderabad picked Romario Shepherd at the 2022 mega auction for a staggering sum of INR 7.75 crore. Though the 28-year-old fared well with the bat smashing 58 runs in three games at a strike rate of 141.46, he struggled to find his groove with the ball leaking runs at an alarming rate of 10.89.
SRH were not inclined towards paying a hefty amount for the West Indies all-rounder for the 2023 season and thus, parted ways with him. With Shepherd released, the Hyderabad franchise would want to add a gun all-rounder in its arsenal and could go hammer and tongs to pick Sam Curran.
Curran has been a match-winner with both bat and ball and has proven his mettle in the T20 circuit. The 24-year-old has bagged 149 wickets in 145 games at an economy of 8.43 and smashed 1731 runs at a strike rate of 135.65.
Curran’s bowling stocks have grown leaps and bounds of late and his phenomenal performances at the T20 World Cup 2022 are a prime example of the same. The left-arm pacer bagged 13 wickets in mere six games at an impeccable economy of 6.52 and was adjudged the Player of the Tournament for his jaw-dropping bowling displays.
With the ball, the Northampton-born can deliver the goods at any phase of the game, and with the bat, the southpaw can act as a floater in the middle order in addition to being a dangerous lower order batter. Curran can be an asset to any side and SRH would try to sign him at the IPL 2023 auction.
